Dawn has a long history of culinary experience and love for food. She began working in restaurants in her early teens and quickly fell in love with creating and serving excellent food that brings people together. It was not long before making delicious meals and feeding people became a passion that transcended her own home and became a common theme throughout her life.
Fast forward through several decades of marriage, a career and raising her own family, all the way through to semi-retirement — and creating incredible meals in the kitchen is still Dawn’s happy place. While life got busy and different phases of life brought unique opportunities, Dawn’s love for cooking and serving those around her remained steady through it all.
In 2016, she was asked to volunteer at the local Sicamous and District Recreation Centre’s concession, and in no time she was managing its day-to-day operations and continuing to hone her passion of providing tasty treats for the Shuswap community.
In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic hit and the months-long closure of the Recreation Centre’s concession allowed Dawn’s true dream to take shape: owning a food truck.
With a gentle nudge and the support of her family, Dawn’s dream was alive. She took a leap of faith, and Snacktastic was born.
